Guided Learning Hours. ‘Guided Learning Hours’ are the number hours of learning required for each CEFR level under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, supervisor, tutor or another appropriate provider of education or training. LanguageCert International ESOL exams are mapped to the CEFR and can therefore be assigned approximate Cambridge ESOL said that each level is reached with the following guided learning hours: A2, 180–200; B1, 350–400; B2, 500–600; C1, 700–800, and C2, 1,000–1,200. Note that these study times may not always include homework, and the students studying for the more advanced levels often use the language extensively outside of class.
